How to Add Product Categories in Squarespace
Step 1: Navigate to Your Store
Go to Pages in your Squarespace dashboard.
Select your Store Page to view your products.
Step 2: Assign Categories to Products
Click on a product to edit it.
Scroll down to the Categories section.
Enter a new category name (e.g. “Secret Sauce”) and apply it to the product.
Click Save to finalize the category.
Repeat this process for additional categories (e.g. “Alcohol” for whiskey-related products).
Once added, these categories will appear as filters for customers to navigate through your store easily.
How to Delete a Product Category in Squarespace
If you need to remove a category, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access Category Settings
Go to Store Settings by clicking on the cog icon in your store.
Navigate to Categories under your store settings.
Step 2: Delete an Unwanted Category
Find the category you want to remove.
Click the three dots next to it.
Select Delete.
Squarespace will prompt you with a confirmation message - click Delete again.
The category will be removed from all products associated with it.

What Happens When You Delete a Category?
The category will no longer appear in store filters.
It will be removed from all products that had it applied.
The products themselves will remain in your store - only the category is deleted.
